Why I’m a lazy workaholic (and why you should be too)

A few days ago, I was giving a talk to a group of people and I said: 

 

“My best ideas come from laziness”. 

 

I got some resistance from them, but it’s true.

 

I hate boring, repetitive, mindless work. 

 

I love fast, effective and efficient work. 

 

And most successful business owners are like this. 

 

They would often work really hard to make something more simple, easier or faster to use.

 

Case in point, Steve Jobs. 

 

In creating the original macintosh computers, Steve Jobs made his team constantly rework the design, just to make it simpler and more intuitive for the user. 

 

Each month, they would bring a new design and Steve would criticize every little detail, ensuring it was perfect before moving on to the next step. 

 

My point? 

 

The best business people are always “lazy” i.e. they hate “tedious”, repetitive work. 

 

But they will also spend months and years optimizing their products – making it simpler, faster and more efficient. 

 

It is how the car was invented. 

 

It is how the light bulb came into existence. 

 

And it is also how good marketing works. 

 

When it comes to marketing, everyone has a system (whether they realize it or not) and usually, it is slow, random and inefficient.

 

They are often wasting time and money watching courses and trying several “platforms”, ads or techniques – with none of them really working.

 

Which brings me to my book:
