Why I delete innocent subscribers from my list

From time to time, I go through the list of new subscribers that have joined my email list to check out their website, understand their businesses and see how I can be of most value to my list as a whole.

But whenever I do these “checks”, I always end up deleting people from my list (without even telling or warning them).

Why?

Well, there are 3 categories of people I delete:

#1. The unsubscribes:

Whenever someone unsubscribes from your list, they still remain in your autoresponder software, taking up valuable space (which you’ll be charged for), even though they would never get your emails again.

It makes no sense to keep them there.

It makes even less sense trying convince them to resubscribe. If someone has decided you are not their cup of tea, why force them?

#2. The unserious:

I have discovered there are people who join lists to “check around” or get the free gift with no intention of actually opening, reading or buying from the emails.

How do I know?

Most of them use silly, throwaway email addresses that all their junk emails go into. I don’t want such a person on my list.

It does me (and such a person) no good if my emails are seen as “junk email” going to a dedicated junk email address.

So whenever I see the email addresses that have things like “swipe”, “junk”, etc in the name … I just delete them.

I want people who actually are serious, willing and eager to learn how to grow their business using my methods.

#3. The unruly:

Depending on how you join my list, you might be asked to submit your website address.

It is not a big deal and it is a requirement I want everybody to fill before joining my list.

It turns out some people feel too big to submit their website URL (for whatever reason) and frankly, I have no problem with it. I don’t care either way. Each person is entitled to share (or withhold) what information they want.

But if you decide not to share your website URL, simply DO NOT join my list.

However, I have people who try to put in some fake website like “www.example.com” or do some silly trick like that.

Even worse, I have people who question me on why I request website URLs. I even had someone literally type: “I don’t know why you need this”.

The sheer audacity…

Whenever I find such people, I simply delete them from the list. They almost always turn out to be problem subscribers or customers (if they ever buy) and I’m in business for my freedom and peace of mind.

I don’t have to deal with such pompous pricks.

I hope this email inspires you to be more intentional about curating the people on your list.

It is a privilege for them to be on your list and learn from you (not the other way around).
