One thing I’ve seen people worry about is the “optimal” time to send emails.
I’m sure you’ve seen all these statistics that give bogus claims like “3 EST on Monday is the best time of the week to send emails” as though a jobless fairy is waiting with a wand in hand, ready to grant maximum opens at that specific time.
And if by the heavens you send your emails at any other time, sorry, no opens for you, muchacho.
Of course it’s silly. Things don’t work that way.
In my way of thinking, the best time to send an email is whenever you would like to get paid.
Which is every time, right?
Of course.
But let me go a little deeper:
My whole philosophy with email is based on treating your email list like your wife.
So let me ask you:
“When is the best time to send your wife a message?”
I hope you realize how dumb the whole concept sounds now.
Of course ANYTIME is a good time!
Obviously you want to be reasonable. You don’t want to send an email at say, 3AM, for instance. But generally, you can send an email at any time and it WILL BE a good time.
Because it’s not the time of the email that matters, it’s the relationship you have built with your list.
And if you have a great relationship, they will open your email at 7am and they will also open it at 7pm.
It doesn’t flipping matter, Susan.
Alright I hope that drives my point home.
