I am about to share a “silly” story about my toothpaste, but it can make you a lot of money in your business – if you are able to apply it.
Here’s the gist:
Yesterday, like most days, I was tired after a long day of work, but I still wanted to brush my teeth.
Oftentimes, it is a mental battle to leave the comfort of my bed and go to the bathroom…
And yesterday was one of those days.
However, I decided to slap my inner loafer and get to the bathroom, only for me to discover …
I was out of toothpaste
To worsen it? It was too late to get another one.
My disciplined self was disappointed, but my lazy self was glad.
I know at this point, you may be wondering:
“What does all this have to do with my marketing”
Well, here’s the thing:
I knew my toothpaste was almost finished, however, I didn’t get a replacement beforehand.
And as a result I couldn’t do my usual night routine.
This is a trivial example, but when it comes to your business, this kind of “reactive behavior” can be disastrous.
For example:
– Not preparing your sales powerpoint until the night before the presentation
– Not sending out emails until you need a sale
– Not building the relationships and connections until you need a joint venture from them, etc.
– Not reaching out to potential referral partners until you need them
All of these can negatively affect your revenue and maybe even reputation in the industry.
So what should you do if you’re someone like me, who procrastinates to the last minute before getting stuff done?
Simply add it to your calendar the moment you remember.
That way you don’t risk forgetting it again.
Remember: “Always get a backup toothpaste before you need it”
In order news, I have a book that shows how health and wellness professionals like you can predictably and consistently get high quality clients who pay top dollar for your services.
