My weird and disturbing obsession

I have a confession…

Lately, I have been a little too invested in a particular activity.

It has always been interesting to me but right now, it is becoming an obsession.

Some might even say it is a disturbing obsession.

What am I talking about?

Well, I’ve been obsessed with watching professional fights.

Not the WWE where everything is staged

But the UFC where truly disturbing, painful and sometimes graphic fights happen.

For example:

– People get knocked out

– Fighters get their bones broken

– Fighters get bloody, messed up faces during fights.

It is not always like this, but it can get pretty graphic at times.

So I thought to myself:

“Why do I enjoy watching these fights even when there is a risk of severe damage”

And here are my answers:

1. Conflict:

I love conflict. You love conflict. Everyone loves conflict.

We might not love to be IN conflict, but we enjoy conflict. It gets attention and (for whatever reason), it is inherently interesting to the human brain.

2. Trash talk:

Many times before a match, there is a lot of “trash talk”, where fighters talk smack about each other and try to get into each other’s heads while gaining fans to their side.

It is basic psychological warfare between the fighters.

But for us fans, it is relationship-building and entertainment.

If you love a fighter, the trash talk makes you love the fighter more, but if you hate a fighter the trash talk makes you hate him more.

It is all relationship-building.

3. The actual fight:

The actual fight is interesting.

There is always an anticipation built up.

There is a tension waiting to be released and the tension increases with every punch or kick in the match.

All these and more, are the reasons I am a little too obsessed with UFC.

But this email is not just about fighting, it directly translates to business.

Every element that makes a UFC fight addictive for me, can make your emails, sales pages, website, videos, etc … addictive for your readers …

Conflict, entertainment, “trash talking”, relationship building, etc all contribute to more sales and conversion for your business.
