Let me tell you a story:
In 1911, a scandal happened – the “Mona Lisa” was stolen.
At that time, it wasn’t the popular “masterpiece” we all know it as now (In fact, it wasn’t even one of the most popular pieces in the Louvre – museum it was kept).
However, one Monday morning, one of the handymen that worked for the prison, stole the painting from the museum.
The theft went unnoticed for over a day, but once the museum realized, they announced the news.
Newspapers all across the world ran headlines about the missing painting.
Detectives all over the world were searching for said painting.
Rewards were offered for anyone who could find the painting.
And as such, this theft gave birth to a “masterpiece”.
Almost overnight, the “Mona Lisa” went from “just another painting” to an iconic representation of great art.
What does this have to do with business you might say?
Many things.
But here’s the one I want to talk about: Exclusivity.
Value, value and exclusivity are always linked – the fewer people have something, the more valuable it is.
That’s why expensive cars are valued. That’s why gold is valued. And that’s why the “Mona Lisa” was valued.
It had gone from something that the general public had to something that was rare and exclusive.
And by default, the value skyrocketed.
This same thing can be applied to your business.
Making your products/services exclusive wants people desire them by default.
There are several ways to do this – from price, to your niche, to creating a waitlist, etc.
But the bottom line is, if you can find ways to make your product exclusive, then you’ll make selling easier.
As people will already “want” what you have to offer.
