How to get away with bragging in your marketing.

One of the things I had to learn early on was that the ability to write good copy, sell on stage, or pitch well, doesn’t necessarily guarantee that your business would be successful.

Yes, you might make money in the short term, but there is only one way to guarantee long-term success.

And that is having one or many marketing assets.

Your marketing asset is whatever you have that can generate income AT WILL for your business.

So that begs the question:

What is your marketing asset?

Is it the product?

There have been good companies with great products that go out of business because they can’t get sufficient people to buy said “great products”.

It is the copy or advertisement?

There have been companies that have created great advertisements that probably made a lot of money initially, but still end up going under several years later.

So what then is it?

It is, in fact, the relationship you have with the audience.

The only thing that is truly an asset … something that you can truly “cash-in” for sales, revenue and profit in your business is the relationship you have with your audience.

So how do you build this relationship?

Well, there are several ways:

Some try to do it with social media and while it can work, more often than not, it is a fragile business where you don’t really own the asset (i.e. audience information), and if for whatever reason your account gets banned, hacked or restricted … you are automatically out of business.

Others try to do it with podcasts and/or YouTube. And while I am a big fan of those, they face the same problem of not being able to own the asset.

Another way is building a direct mail list. And this makes sense for some businesses, but for the most part it is too expensive to use.

Which leaves us with my favourite way to build a relationship: Email.

Not only is it dirt cheap, it is also highly effective if you know what you are doing.

But the problem is, most people don’t.

If you need help with writing emails people love to read and buy from, then let’s have a chat.

Over the call, we’ll go over your goals, your current strategy, potential mistakes you could be making and we could fix it, if you decided to work with me and my team.
