How I use AI in my marketing

AI is the magic tool around the block that promises to revolutionize the way we work.

Maybe it will, maybe it won’t … time would tell.

But no matter how advanced AI gets, there is one thing it cannot do:

It can never replace human connection. And this is the big problem I’ve had with using AI in marketing.

Marketing is a human-to-human thing, no machine or “intelligence” can replace it.

However, I have recently been using AI in my email marketing and it has actually been helping me out a lot.

So how do I use it?

First of all, I write absolutely NOTHING using AI.

Not emails, not sales letters, not ads. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Inserts other synonyms of ‘nothing’ to obnoxiously drive the point home

All my writing comes from me, my research, relationships, experiences, thoughts, etc.

So how then does AI fit into my workflow?

I use it to understand research.

If there is one good thing that comes from AI, it is access to a vast knowledge base that I don’t have and I can leverage that to reduce the time I spend during research.

Here’s how that works:

I do a lot of work in fields I am not expert in (for instance, the health industry), so before I write anything I do my research (read forums, research papers, documentations, etc) and as expected I run into terminologies, abbreviations, lingo, etc. I don’t understand at a deep level.

So I copy those terms into my beloved AI pal and it dumbs it down to something even I can understand.

You could even put whole research papers into it and it will explain the essence of the research in plain English.

It is really cool, I must say.

But while that has definitely been fun (and helpful), the writing part of marketing must still come from a human.

No machine can ever replace the emotional … the creative … the human.
