A while back I read an article called: “Ghost Of The Innocent Man”
It was a story of a man who was locked up for allegedly segzually assaulting a woman, only to be found innocent after 27 years.
His case is not unique, of course. Thousands of people around the world are wrongly sent to jail and sometimes killed, because the jury believed a story that simply wasn’t true.
This leads me to an uncomfortable truth:
What is true is irrelevant. What is believed is what matters.
This is true in every area of life.
Lives have been cut short or permanently stigmatised because some crooked criminal or twisted lawyer told a compelling story that people believe.
Many false and dangerous agendas have been propagated by politicians and the media. Unfortunately, the public usually believes it and it becomes their truth.
Let’s bring this back to business.
Do people believe your product/service can do what you promise?
Again, the truth doesn’t matter. Do they BELIEVE?
Even if you have testimonials, guarantees, credentials, certificates, etc … it doesn’t matter if your prospect does not believe it.
Believability trumps everything when marketing/selling and most people don’t think nearly enough about it.
There are several ways to go about making people believe in you and your product/service, but that is one of the beauties of email.
The day-in, day-out communication with email, gradually builds trust and believability with your prospect. However, you have to do it right.
