If you own a client-based business (coaching, consulting, or providing a service), then you’re probably familiar with the feast & famine cycle of business.
Essentially, sometimes business is really good — you have a bunch of referrals and you are pretty much overloaded with so much work that you can’t realistically handle any more.
But at other times you are desperate, wondering where the next client will come from and how you’ll make payroll.
That is the nature of client businesses.
However, there is an easy way to eliminate the feast & famine cycle of business.
What is it?
Simply build a list of ideal prospects with whom you have a relationship, and you’ll pretty much eliminate the ups and downs of client work.
What do I mean?
The only way to build consistent income in any kind of business is to have a list of people you can always turn to whenever you need new business.
It’s kind of like what John Lennon said: “Whenever I need to get a new pool, I just write a new song.”
It’s not the song that brings in the money for the pool but the fact that he has an engaged fan base eagerly waiting to buy whatever song he releases next.
The business equivalent of that is a list.
And frankly, it doesn’t have to be an email list.
People have successfully built a “list” on YouTube where they get paid millions of dollars anytime they release a video.
However, unlike YouTube, Fakebook, and Instaglam … with email you actually OWN the list and if you ever get banned from your autoresponder, you can move the list to another autoresponder and continue business as usual.
You can’t do that on social media.
