Do you have website shame?

Many years ago, I came across this term I had never heard up until then:

“Website shame”

Apparently, this is when a business owner has a website but cringes at the thought of other people checking it out because they are not proud of how it looks, functions, feels, etc.

It is kind of like if you go to a party in a t-shirt and shorts only to find out it is a tuxedo party.

You feel ashamed, uneasy and out of place. You don’t want anyone to see you and want to get out as soon as humanly possible.

That’s how it is with website shame.

You have a website, but you desperately hope nobody checks it out because you are ashamed of it.

Here’s something else to think about:

Your website is often the first point of contact a prospect has with you.

It is a representation of your brand and you should be proud of it (i.e. you should have a website that accurately reflects you, your business and what you stand for.)

Now, this will mean different things for different people — for some, it may mean having an ugly, retro-styled design … while for others, it may mean having a fancy, flashy design.

It all depends on your goals, who you are, what you offer, your prospect, etc.

At the end of the day, all that matters is having a website that helps you achieve your goals (getting leads, building trust, making sales, etc.) while also representing your business and brand properly.

If you’d love to create a site like that, then my agency, IKON Media, is currently taking web design and development clients.

Whether you want a simple landing page or you want a full-fledged website with all the bells and whistles, we can probably help you, but first we need to have a chat.

Over this chat, we’ll discuss your goals, what you aim to achieve, and how your website can move you closer to your goal.

If we think we can help you after the call, we’ll discuss money, timelines, deliverables, and all that good stuff.
