There are only 2 types of entrepreneurs: Pigs and Chickens.
Here’s what I mean:
I’m not sure who first came up with the analogy, but let’s say you want to have a delicious egg and bacon sandwich for breakfast.
In order for that sandwich to be made, you need eggs from a chicken and bacon from a pig.
However, the chicken need only to lay the egg … while a pig has to lay its life in order to create bacon.
After the sandwich is made, the chicken can lay many more eggs, fall in love and live a happy life with its fellow “chicken homies” … but the pig? It gave up its life for you to enjoy your sumptuous meal.
In other words, the chicken is interested, but the pig is committed.
Which brings us back to entrepreneurs.
Most entrepreneurs are chickens — they are interested enough to start … but not enough to take the necessary risks … not enough to put in the time, effort and smackeroo required to get the results.
I see this all the time:
Business owner going from conference to conference … buying course after course … posting a million selfies with several gurus they’ve met at said conferences.
But yet, their business is malnourished and suffering.
And this is not due to lack of knowledge — far from it!
In my experience, many of these business owners have adequate knowledge and exposure … maybe even too much, but unfortunately, there is no mastery of the subjects they’ve learnt.
Therein lies chicken behaviour.
On the other hand, the pigs give it their all.
They might not know as much … they might not have as much experience … or even have the required resources … but they have their head screwed on right.
Their mindset is in the right place.
And even with their limited knowledge, they pursue their goals (whether business or otherwise), without holding back or apologizing.
And that is why they always win in the end.
Now, I can’t tell you whether you are a pig or chicken. That’s not my place.
But if you ever look in the mirror and wonder why you know what to do but never do them … if you ever feel like you have the right knowledge but no results to show for it … if you know that you have more potential than your business/life currently reflects …
Then I guess you have your answer.
But on the bright side … the solution is in your hands.
Simply become more committed. Don’t just say things — DO THINGS!
Become a pig today.
And in 5 … 10 … 30 years time, you will reap much more rewards than you could possibly ask for.
Something else to think about:
If you offer a service, pigs are the best kinds of clients to work with. They are committed to the work required … they are not cheapskates who want the best service for 50 bucks … they respect your expertise as a consultant or service provider.
And that’s why they will get the most out of the service you offer them.
