A while back, I read about a stress coach who was getting frustrated with her business.
She had organized 4 physical events teaching people how to manage their stress but nobody came for ANY of them.
In her own words:
“…I am physically hurt because it seems no matter how hard I try, I am invisible, my message is uninspiring … and I feel like I am getting to the end of my rope …”
I really felt bad for her when I read this.
So if I could give her advice, here’s what I’d tell her:
* No physical events:
I’ll advise her to strictly hold online events until her business has good cash flow.
Physical events are cost intensive and the cost of failure is high.
So she should stick to online.
* Fish in puddles, not oceans:
I think Dan Kennedy first came up with the “puddle/ocean” analogy but it is apt in her situation.
From what I understand, she was trying to sell to anybody she could find.
Instead, I’d advise her to look for a small but affluent group of the market to sell to.
Probably overworked entrepreneurs.
They deal with a lot of stress and they also have the money to pay.
So I’d tell her to focus on them.
* Start building a list:
Next up, I’ll advise her to build a list of potential clients.
I prefer an email list, but Facebook groups, and direct mail lists can also work.
Once she has a list, she needs to communicate with them frequently, displaying her knowledge.
That way whenever she has something to sell, she has a list of people that already know and trust her.
These pieces of advice would hopefully get her to a good place in her business.
And they can also help you too.
